Hedgehogs are
nocturnal; they should not be out during the day. If you
see a hedgehog in the open during the day there is a
good chance that it is sick and needs immediate help
(even if it just appears to be sleeping on your lawn /
patio). Hedgehogs are targets in the daytime for
flies to lay their eggs on. Within 48 hours these eggs
will hatch and the maggots will slowly eat the hedgehog
alive. If you are in any doubt, please phone for
advice.
