Spike was found on
18.8.08 wandering around in daylight, he came in
dragging his rear right leg, after getting him to uncurl
and checking him over I removed what I thought was a
tooth from the wound.(see picture
above). After closer inspection I found out that
it was a shattered piece of the bone, the leg was
severely swollen and the smell was horrible due to
infection, at this stage I administered some pain
relief.
At 4.20pm I took him to the vets who
anaesthetised him and inspected more closely, due to his
injuries the leg was so shattered and infected, we
decided together the kindest thing to do was to put him
to sleep, this hedgehog must have suffered with a lot of
pain, fortunately he was found, brought to us and will
no longer suffer.
