CJ was found by a young
family in Kidderminster on 3rd May 2008.
The family actually rang for advise but on listening to
the symptoms, I decided to collect him for a closer
inspection. His breathing was noisy and laboured and his
eyes were in a terrible state. He was also very
de-hydrated.
On our return, we began treating him straight away. In
all honesty, we didn't expect him to make it through the
night and were very surprised to find him still alive
the next morning.
After a couple of days his one eye was looking better,
but the other was still not good. We took him to the
vets who admitted him for an examination. The Vet
contacted us to say that his eye was extremely infected
and would need to be removed. The operation was
scheduled for the following day. Unfortunately, when the
vet tried to anaesthetise him, his lungs were full of
fluid and he was still full of worms. Sadly, it was
agreed that the kindest solution was for poor old CJ to
be put to sleep. He would have had a slow death if he
hadn't been found. He was such a fighter. You could tell
by the pigment in his feet and nose that CJ was quite an
old boy, so he had obviously survived quite a long life.
