Biter came in on 29th June 2008 from Franche Road, he had been found sunbathing in the garden which is not a good sign for hedgehogs. On arrival he was very dehydrated and had an upset tummy, when I was checking him out he actually bit me, that’s where the name Biter came from. He was given fluids, antibiotics and left to settle in the shed on a heat pad. Biter didn’t settle, but his motions got better, so the next day he was put into an outside hutch where he began to pace around, he actually chewed the front of the hutch. On Tuesday I rang Nick to ask if I could take him home, if I hadn’t he would have paced himself to death. On release at home he knew exactly where he wanted to go, a hole through the fence. Nick was going to put food out for him and build a hedgehog house. A couple of days later I received an e-mail from Nick to say that they had seen Biter marching across the lawn that afternoon,  stopping for some food then off on his travels, hopefully he would have settled back into his nocturnal habits and recovered from his ordeal.
