Bert was found by our
own dog 'Jasper' in our garden at 11:30am in May 2008.
The dog kept coming to the door and was frantic to show
us that he had found something. Luckily Jasper is used
to animals and didn't disturb the new arrival 'Bert'
Bert was lay in our border, lying in the sun. As always
it is not a good sign to see a hedgehog out in the
daytime. I picked him up and took him into our
'treatment room' He weighed 615 grams and was very
de-hydrated. After a visit to the vets, he was
re-hydrated by injection as he would not uncurl. He was
then collected and treated back at the rescue centre.
After coaxing him to eat using a light veterinary
approved diet, he gained weight and was released a few
days later.
